PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vehicle controller equipped with a power storage apparatus, wherein regenerative brake equipment can be continuously used even when the power storage apparatus is fully charged in a situation, in which there are much regenerative energy on a down grade or on other like occasions and brake control can be carried out without use of a mechanical brake. SOLUTION: The electric vehicle controller includes: a VVVF inverter for driving a motor for electric motor cars; and a DC/DC converter connected to the power storage apparatus for absorbing regenerative energy of the motor. The controller includes both a braking resistor and a brake chopper. When the power storage apparatus is fully charged during regenerative braking, the brake chopper is actuated and regenerative energy is consumed at the braking resistor. Thus, it is possible to absorb energy to the power storage apparatus and continuously use the regenerative brake equipment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
