PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control method of a compressor for a freezing/refrigerating showcase capable of automatically setting an operation time for securing a time necessary for lubrication oil to return to the compressor even when a target temperature is low, to prevent the damage of the compressor, and further preventing commodities which do not need a low cooling temperature, from being excessively cooled, when a temperature is controlled by using the compressor of high capacity. SOLUTION: In this freezing/refrigerating showcase comprising a refrigerating device such as the compressor and a cooler, and controlling the temperature to keep the inside at the prescribed target temperature by switching on/off the compressor by a showcase controller, an operation time from start to stop of the compressor in a temperature control operation, is measured, so that the next and following operation time from start to stop of the compressor is set to the time necessary for the compressor not to be damaged, on the basis of the measured value of the operation time.
