PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holder capable of preventing damage to a holder without deteriorating a chip discharging property, and preventing resonance due to regular vibrations at the time of cutting. SOLUTION: This holder 22 includes an approximate columnar holder body 47, and projecting parts 46. A plurality of the projecting parts 46 are formed in a peripheral direction R at different intervals, and timings for applying cutting resistance is differentiated, so as to restrain regular vibrations. Thickness W of a base end of each projecting part 46 is set based on the cutting resistance at the time of cutting, so as to prevent local deterioration of rigidity and breakage. A shape of each first chip accommodation space formation part 11 is formed based on the thickness W of the base end of each of the adjacent projecting parts 46, so that a first chip accommodation space 25 can be made as large as possible.
