A rotary machine e.g. pump, fan or gas turbine engine has an array of static and rotating blades. Each blade has a leading edge, a trailing edge and a notional chord line linking the two. In a process to repair blade leading edge damage, the damaged area is dressed back along the chord between two points on the leading edge (A, E) e.g. by a stone or grinding tool. Material is machined from the leading edge to a depth (C) that is proportional to the distance A-E, the length of chord. |
