METHOD FOR CONVERTING BACKGROUND COLOR IN MOBILE TERMINAL

A method for changing a background image color in a mobile terminal is provided to meet the visual demands of users by reflecting the color of a standby screen image set by a user for a background color of a menu screen image and providing a color theme corresponding to the color of the standby screen image. When a standby screen image is set in a mobile terminal(301), a controller discriminates whether the set standby screen image has a background or not(303). When there is a background of the standby screen image, the controller recognizes portions, excluding a subject, of the standby screen image as a background and extracts a representative color value from the image background(305). The controller designates a color theme corresponding to the extracted representative color value(307) and converts color values of the designated color theme into color to display it on a display unit(309). When the use of the displayed color theme is set by the user(311), the controller reflects the set color theme for the background color of the menu screen image(313).
