<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform automatic trimming by presuming a person and a background to which a photographer pays attention. <P>SOLUTION: In a face detecting means 10, face pictures FP are detected from an entire picture P. Subsequently, in a composition discriminating means 30, the top and bottom of the entire picture P are discriminated on the basis of the face pictures FP1, FP2. Further, it is discriminated whether the entire picture P is a portrait composition or a landscape composition, using the discriminated top and bottom information. As a result, when it is determined that the face picture FP1 is in the bottom side and the composition discriminating means 30 discriminates that the entire picture P is the landscape composition, trimming is automatically executed using a trimming frame TG 10 of the portrait composition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
