<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starter capable of taking an advantageous air scavenging form in restarting, even in a relatively short engine stopping operation period. <P>SOLUTION: This engine starter performs automatic restarting control for automatically restarting an engine, by performing combustion in a cylinder 12B put in an expansion stroke when stopping the engine, when a restarting condition is realized thereafter, by automatically stopping the engine by cutting fuel of the whole cylinders A2, when an automatic stopping condition of the engine is realized; and cuts the fuel of the whole cylinders A2, after performing specific mode operation A1 for precedently cutting the fuel to the cylinders 12B and 12C unadjacent in ignition order, after the automatic stopping condition is realized (t1); and also injects the fuel into the cylinders in the first compression stroke of a stopping time intake stroke cylinder in the automatic starting control so that the cylinders 12B and 12C become a stopping time expansion stroke cylinder and a stopping time intake stroke cylinder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
