<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image forming apparatus low in the generation of sound, heat or vibration, and reduced in size and cost, and to suppress a positional deviation between an image carrier and luminous flux. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus having a plurality of image carriers and a plurality of scanning optical devices for scanning the plurality of image carriers with the luminous flux, each of the plurality of scanning optical devices scans two of the plurality of image carriers with two luminous fluxes. The scanning optical device has projecting parts projecting in a direction parallel with the longitudinal direction of the image carrier at both ends, and the housing of the image forming apparatus has a butting part holding the projecting part while butting it in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the image carrier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
