PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction of authentication performance even if a problem is present in a state of biological information, a placing way of a finger, or influence of environment such as outside light, in a biological authentication device of a finger vein authentication or the like. SOLUTION: In this biological information authentication device, at least one wrong template storing a characteristic point of pattern information imaged under a condition unsuitable for biological authentication is provided, collation template information generated by extracting the characteristic point from the biological information and wrong template information are collated in time of registration of authentication information, and the collation template information is stored in an authenticating template when similarity is small. The collation template and the wrong template information are collated in time of the authentication, and authenticating processing is not performed when the similarity is large. When the similarity between the collation template information and the wrong template information is large, a guidance message for a problem solution is displayed to a user.
