PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and weight, and to improve valve lift variable accuracy, in a valve lift variable valve gear constituted so that a rocking arm 15 allowing a fulcrum roller 21 arranged on a valve lift variable operation shaft 19 to abut on a middle part, is arranged between an intake valve 6 and a cam 8; one end part 15a of this rocking arm is allowed to abut on the cam for rockingly rotating the rocking arm by this cam; a cam surface 24 operating opening-closing of the valve by rocking rotation of the rocking arm, is arranged in the other end part 15c of the rocking arm; and an abutting point 21a to the rocking arm of the fulcrum roller, is moved in the longitudinal direction by the operation shaft. SOLUTION: A part of the fulcrum roller 21 is fitted in recessed grooves 30 and 31 arranged on an outer peripheral surface of the operation shaft 19.
