A method and an apparatus for software upgrade in a digital receiver are provided to download software through a plurality of OTA(Over The Air) virtual channels, thereby more rapidly performing the software upgrade. A method for software upgrade in a digital receiver comprises the following steps of: obtaining a plurality of virtual channels for software transmission(S10); simultaneously downloading software through the plurality of virtual channels(S20); joining the downloaded software together(S30); and recording the software in a memory and applying the software to a system(S40,S70). The digital receiver simultaneously downloads the software as dividing the software by using channels of the number of the obtained virtual channels or a predetermined number in the download step of the software. |
