<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of matching determination by matching feature points and fingerprint ridges to be extracted from a fingerprint image as featured quantities. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 10 extracts fingerprint ridges and feature points from a fingerprint image, sets a vector going from one feature point to another feature point in a fixed range, and calculates the directions of the fingerprint ridges crossing the vector. The control part 10 compares the featured quantities of the feature points with the directions of the fingerprint ridges respectively calculated from the registered fingerprint image and the matched fingerprint image, and determines the identity of the registered fingerprint image and the matched fingerprint image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
