PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing artificial aggregate by which the artificial aggregate having good quality equal to that of natural aggregate even when the artificial aggregate contains highly reactive and foaming miner constituent causing the weakening of the structure of the artificial aggregate in addition to unburnt carbon in the variation of properties of the coal ash is produced and which is free from harmful effects on the manintenance of equipment or the like. SOLUTION: In the method of producing the artificial aggregate carried out by firing a raw material containing coal ash as a main constituent, the coal ash is previously classified to remove fine powder part and coarse powder part is used for the main component of the raw material.
