PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase security strength against abuse of a client computer while reducing the operational burden of personal authentication on a user (client). SOLUTION: When providing a service, a server requests a client computer that requests the service to authenticate its environment (authentication of its operating environment), receives environment difference information for the request, and newly requests the client computer to perform a method of personal authentication based on this information. As the environment difference information, a difference level showing in a plurality of steps the degree of difference between the current environment information of the client computer and the previous retained environment information is used. As the previous environment information, generation environment information consisting of a plurality of histories where personal authentication after the environment authentication was successful among the environment information obtained through the environment authentication of the client computer is used.
