PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a good tomographic image even when the rotation cycle of a probe and the transmitting/receiving cycle of a signal in the probe do not synchronize in an image diagnostic system. SOLUTION: To this image diagnostic system, a catheter is connected, and the image diagnostic system is equipped with a plurality memories (801 to 803) which individually house received data by the unit of line, a writing means which writes the received data in the memories in response to the transmission/receipt timing of the signal, and a reading means which reads the received data which are housed in the memories in response to the output of an encoder. The writing means writes data in the memory in which the oldest received data are housed from among the memories of which the reading process has not been performed. The reading means reads the received data from the memory in which the latest received data are housed from among the memories of which the writing process by the writing means has not been performed, and the tomographic image is formed from the read data.
