PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress influences due to a manufacturing error and an assembly error in each of components of a projection engine to the minimum, and to inexpensively perform an alignment adjustment with less man-hour. SOLUTION: A light source lamp 9, an integrator optical part 10, a color separating/compositing optical part 11 and a projection optical part 12, etc., are integrally formed as a projection unit 6, and also, respective DMD units 76, 50 and 75 for RGB in the color separating/compositing optical part 11 are exposed so that they are held from outside the unit. The projection unit 6 is attached to a holder 87 in an inclined state so that symmetric axes of respective DMDs for RGB included in respective DMD units are vertical to a mount surface 86a. The DVD units 76, 50 and 75 are each held from behind by the corresponding adjusting tools 88 to 90, and then, the attachment position of each unit is adjusted so as to eliminate color shift in an adjustment image 91 displayed on a screen 92.
