PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that replacement costs of adsorbents cause to push up the operating costs of a system while water-soluble cesium (Cs) and strontium (Sr) among radionuclides contained in a liquid waste are adsorbed by inorganic adsorbents because there is no effective removing means for such Cs and Sr. SOLUTION: A method for removing radionuclides including a Cs removal process for adsorbing and removing Cs by treating the liquid waste containing radionuclides with denitrifying bacteria or Cs storage bacteria is provided. In this method for removing radionuclides, preferably, Sr is adsorbed and removed by passing the liquid waste having undergone the Cs removal process through an adsorption column filled with chitosan.
