摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member with a sliding layer containing no lead. <P>SOLUTION: The sliding member comprises a supporting element and the sliding layer, and a bearing metal layer laid therebetween. The sliding layer is formed of bismuth or bismuth alloy, the crystallite of the bismuth or the bismuth alloy for the sliding layer is oriented to a preferable direction represented by the Miller indices of a lattice plane (012), and the X-ray diffraction intensity of the lattice plane (012) is the maximum, as compared with the X-ray diffraction intensity of the other lattice plane.
