<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent device capable of positively suppressing the degradation of luminescent characteristics caused by moisture. <P>SOLUTION: A barrier layer 15 is formed on a circuit forming layer S2 of an element substrate S, in a region formed with each organic EL element 12. After the barrier layer 15 is formed on the circuit forming layer S2 of the element substrate S, the element substrate S is heated to eliminate moisture in the circuit forming layer S2, from the circuit forming layer S2. A functional layer 19 and a facing electrode 20 are then formed to form an organic EL element 12. Consequently, the moisture left in the circuit forming layer S2 without evaporating is shut out by the barrier layer 15 and prevented from infiltrating into the functional layer 19. The functional layer of the organic EL element 12 is not thereby exposed to moisture. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
