<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic material excellent in heat resistance and cleaning performance and an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst using the catalytic material. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the catalytic material, in which an alumina particle, in which a plurality of crystallites are agglomerated to form a primary particle, is mixed with an oxide particle containing cerium for covering at least a part of the surface of the alumina particle, comprises the steps of: preparing an acid colloidal solution of boehmite alumina; preparing an acid solution containing a cerium ion at the least; and mixing the prepared acid colloidal solution with the prepared acid solution after the pH of the former solution is made almost coincident with that of the latter solution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
