<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element which can improve optical absorption rate without thickening a photoelectric conversion layer. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element 100 is provided with a lower electrode 2, an upper electrode 4 opposite to the lower electrode 2 and a photoelectric conversion layer 3 formed between the lower electrode 2 and the upper electrode 4, and it applies bias voltage to between the lower electrode 2 and the upper electrode 4 and picks up photocurrent.
