<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus stabilizing and improving dot reproducibility when a small size dot is formed. <P>SOLUTION: Pulse width for a driving signal for an exposure part 54 is calculated by a pulse width operation part 143 according to size of each dot composing an image. Then, a peak value for light emitting intensity by a laser beam is determined by a light emitting intensity determining part 145 according to the calculated pulse width. Next, the pulse width for the driving signal is modulated based on the calculated pulse width in the exposure part 54 and the light emitting intensity of the laser beam is increased at an increasing ratio determined beforehand up to the determined peak value for the light emitting intensity. The exposure part 54 outputs the laser beam for forming an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier using the thus increased light emitting intensity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
