PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety gear for a building shutter, which can prevent an inconvenience such as degraded function thereof due to deflection of a take-up shaft. SOLUTION: The safety gear 7 is arranged between a left mounting bracket 2 mounted on a skeleton, and the take-up shaft 4, and formed of: a rotary body 8 which is rotated together with the take-up shaft 4 in one body; a case body C which is engageable with the left mounting bracket 2 via an engaging means, and undergoes rotational restriction; and a braking means 13 which functions to unitarily connect between the case body C and the rotary body 8 upon quick and sudden rotation of the rotary body 8, and to stop the rotation of the rotary body 8, based on the rotational restriction from the mounting bracket 2 of the case body C.
