PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable various kinds of images including a multispectral image, an image produced as a computer graphics and so on to be treated in a common environment. SOLUTION: A system treating image data has a plurality of bands. Assuming that the image data are composed of signal values for the respective bands and additional information pixel-by-pixel, and the additional information consists of means for obtaining a reflectivity or spectral-radiance of the object from the signal values and information for specifying illumination; an image processing device comprises: an image input section for reading the image data, an additional information calculator for attaching the additional information to the image data and causing an image data storage to store the result, and an image converter for computing a display image from spectral data such as reflectivity and an illumination spectrum from the additional information in the image data storage and outputting the resultant image to an image display section.
