PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus which has an appropriately operating loss prevention function and can reduce a load on a power source. SOLUTION: In an imaging apparatus 1 equipped with a freely removable lens cap 5 to be mounted on a photographing lens 4 so as to cover an incident side face 4a of the photographing lens 4, a proximate radio transmission means 6 for transmitting a radio wave for reading by radio is assembled in the lens cap, a radio wave transmitted from the proximate radio transmission means 6 can be received by a reception means 8 incorporated at the side of an apparatus body 2 and when a transmitted radio wave from the proximate radio transmission means 6 can not be received by the reception means 8 or when a reception sensitivity is lower than or equal to a predetermined level, warning means 12-14 are operated to issue a warning.
