PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silica compound oxide fine particles having particle sizes in a nano order level and to provide a method for manufacturing the particles. SOLUTION: The silica compound oxide fine particles contain silica and metal oxides excluding silica, wherein the proportion of the metal oxides excluding silica is less than 50 mol%, the metal oxides excluding silica are one or more kinds selected from a group consisting of titania, zirconia and alumina, and the particles have an average particle size of 1 to 100 nm.
