The invention discloses an electronic abacus and operation method of the electronic abacus. The electronic abacus comprises an operation apparatus, an input apparatus and a display apparatus. The input apparatus and the display apparatus are connected to the operation apparatus respectively. The operation apparatus receives the input information from the input apparatus, processes the input information, and displays the associated information on the display apparatus. The input apparatus includes function keys and number inputting keys, said number inputting keys include several sets of the numerical keys, each set of the numerical keys is corresponding to a certain inputting numeric bit. Each set of the numerical key includes the keys indicating "5","-5","4","-4","3","-3","2","-2","1","-1" respectively. When the addition or the subtraction is operated, because the negative number is directly input by pushing the key, it doesn' t need for pushing the plus key, the minus key, the key for switching the plusminus, so that the operation process is reduced.
