PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber bundle of which the ultraviolet resistance characteristic at a wavelength band of 150 to 250 nm is improved, and which is easily and inexpensively manufactured without generating risk such as explosion during manufacturing. SOLUTION: In the optical fiber bundle, a plurality of optical fibers comprising a core mainly composed of silica glass and containing 0.1 to 2.0 wt.% fluorine and <50 wt ppm chlorine and a clad composed of silica glass to which fluorine is added are bundled and both the ends are sealed in an optically transparent closed container together with hydrogen or heavy hydrogen.
