PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element that realizes high contrast, a light-emitting device that realizes high contrast by using the light-emitting element that is superior in contrast. SOLUTION: A light-emitting element is configured, in which a layer containing a light-emitting substance is provided between first and second electrodes; the layer containing the light-emitting substance has a light-emitting layer, a layer containing a first organic compound, and a layer containing a second organic compound; the first electrode has translucence; the layer containing the first organic compound and the layer containing the second organic compound are provided between the second electrode and the light-emitting layer; and the color of the first organic compound is in a complementary chromatic relationship with the color of the second organic compound.
