PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing element for electrolytic capacitors for preventing the permeation of an electrolyte at a sealing part, maintaining the strength of a sealing element, and thinning the sealing element, and to provide an electrolytic capacitor using the sealing element. SOLUTION: The electrolytic capacitor 1 comprises: a capacitor element 2 and a packaged case 9 for storing the capacitor element 2, the sealing element 5 for sealing the packaged case 9, and a lead wire 3 led to the outside from the packaged case 9 through the sealing element 5. In the electrolytic capacitor 1, elastic rubber 6 and a polyethylenenaphthalate film 7 are used as a material for the sealing element 5 for sealing the opening of the armored case 9.
