PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a karaoke system that can be learned efficiently and effectively, when one desires to learn the lyrics by musical pieces adding ruby (FURIGANA: Kanji is converted into Kana) of a present language for word telops of a foreign language in order to learn the foreign language, especially by learning singing of the musical pieces suitable for each and every one of the users, without taking much time performing specific operations during selection of music or during the performance by the user. SOLUTION: The karaoke system with a ruby display function comprises calculating a singing scoring value during singing of a selected musical piece by each user, specified by a user ID; recording the calculated singing scoring value for each musical piece by attaching the user ID to a prescribed singing scoring recording part classified by the user; determining whether it exceeds a previously set reference value, based on the newest singing scoring value classified by the user; displaying the lyric telops adding the ruby on the lyric characters, when it does not exceed the reference value; and displaying the lyric telops, without adding ruby to the lyric characters.
