PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reading method of a magnetic information in which magnetic information recorded in a magnetic medium can be read accurately by card operation (e.g. swipe operation) of less number of times and reliability of the device can be improved. SOLUTION: The method is the reading method of the magnetic information in a card reader 1 having a magnetic head 11 reproducing magnetic information recorded in a magnetic medium (magnetic card 20) and generating a reproduced signal, an amplifying circuit 12 amplifying the reproduced signal and generating an amplified signal, a high slice circuit 13 and a low slice circuit 14 effecting a point at which the amplified signal becomes the prescribed level and outputting an original signal being an origin when decoding is performed, a discriminating part 16 and a discriminating part 17 provided corresponding to each of detecting parts and discriminating propriety of reading of the magnetic information, each of the discriminating parts 16, 17 includes a step in which the input original signal is decoded, and a step in which propriety of reading of the magnetic information is discriminated independently based on the decoded original signal.
