PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document encryption control apparatus, and document encryption control method, for overwriting and duplicating a document for a plurality of times, and preventing a license needed for encryption of the document from being issued needlessly. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a means for acquiring an allowable number of next version created which allows creation of a next version of the document, a means for storing the allowable number of next version created, a means for acquiring a next version creation request based on a user operation, a means for storing the number of next version creation requests, a means for determining whether or not the number of next version creation requests is equal to or smaller than the allowable number of next version created, and an overwrite means for overwriting the document after encrypting the document in addition to the document when the number of next version creation requests is determined as being equal to or smaller than the allowable number of next version created by the next version creation determining means.
