PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer for a metal coil which can easily remove a binding band from the metal coil and suppress the movement of the metal coil during carrying and unwinding. SOLUTION: The spacer 1 for the metal coil comprises a spacer 1a for one end surface and a spacer 1b for the other end surface. Since the spacer 1a for the one end surface has a projection 4 fitted to a space J of the metal coil R, the movement of the metal coil R and the spacer 1a for the one end surface can be suppressed. Furthermore, since the spacer 1a for the one end surface and the spacer 1b for the other end surface has recessed grooves 3(3a, 3b) formed by matching with the binding band D on a surface opposed to the metal coil R, the binding band D can be easily removed.
