PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreatment unit for a coating film forming apparatus having a drastically enhanced economy and maintainability. SOLUTION: The pretreatment unit 10 for a coating film forming apparatus comprises a priming roller 16, a circulating solvent feed nozzle 18, a scraping doctor blade 20 and a suction means 120. A coating liquid 110 is jetted from a coating liquid feed nozzle 100 onto the priming roller 16. The circulating solvent feed nozzle 18 feeds a solvent to the coating liquid 110 jetted onto the priming roller 16. The tip end of the scraping doctor blade 20 is pressed against and gets into contact with the priming roller 16 from diagonally upward to scrape the solvent and the coating liquid 110 on the priming roller 16. The suction means 120 includes a suction port 36 and a vacuum pump 52, and the solvent and the coating liquid 110 scraped by the scraping doctor blade 20 are sucked by the suction pump 52.
