<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specifying apparatus capable of simply and quickly specifying layer 3 loop faults generated inside a network. <P>SOLUTION: When a possibility that a layer 3 loop has been generated is detected, a loop specifying instruction function section 2 allows a packet transmitting/receiving function section 3 to transmit a series of inspection packets Pis, wherein the TTL is sequentially incremented, to the network and a number of return collection function section 4 monitors return packets "te" of the packets Pis. A loop position discriminating function section 5 figures out that a router of the return source, on the basis of the packets te the number of returns, is considerably greater than the other routers, and specifies the router for returning return packets, whose number is in excess of the threshold of the number of returns as a loop occurrence position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
