PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger manufacturing method capable of joining inter-plate contact places caused by superimposing heat exchange plates by diffusion welding, thereby drastically increasing the integrated part of the adjacent plates and significantly enhancing the pressure withstanding strength of a heat exchanger composed of heat exchange plates. SOLUTION: A plurality of heat exchange plates 10 are superimposed and put in a state to which an absolute minimum pressurizing force is imparted. With a contact state secured in places where the plates are to be originally in contact with each other, temperature conditions and ambient atmospheric conditions are imparted thereto in which diffusion welding of the metal constituting the plates properly progresses, thereby integrating the inter-plate contact places by diffusion welding. As a result, using press-formed plates, heat exchangers can be manufactured in which joined parts between adjacent plates are present in large numbers in other than peripheral edges and firmly integrated, increasing the pressure withstanding strength against a heat exchange fluid, and making high performance possible for the heat exchangers.
