PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of adequately changing the turning angle of a wheel with respect to the steering angle of a steering wheel. SOLUTION: In the steering device, a differential locking mechanism has a lock holder 60 having a plurality of grooves 65 formed on its outer circumference, and performs the differential locking or unlocking in the rotational direction between an input shaft and an output shaft by advancing/retracting a locking unit 66a to/from the grooves 65. A rotation sensor repeats the detection of the position of the lock holder 60 in the rotational direction to output a similar sensor pattern a plurality of times while the lock holder 60 makes one turn. A transmission ratio variable unit ECU detects to which groove 65 the locking unit 66a is advanced out of the plurality of grooves 65 by utilizing the sensor pattern of the rotation sensor to be output in a state in which a side of the groove 65 is pressed against a side of the locking unit 66a.
