<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and method to detect a dense plane area even in an image sequence obtained with a monocular camera. <P>SOLUTION: A feature point detection means 2 detects feature points from a plurality of images input to an image input means 1, and a correspondence relation detecting means 3 associates the feature points of the images with one another. A conversion matrix calculating means 4 calculates a conversion matrix H for converting the pixel positions of at least three selected feature points in the first image to the positions of the corresponding points in the second image. An image conversion means 5 provides an image obtained by converting a predetermined area of the first image H using the conversion matrix H.
