<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight light source increased in the degree of design freedom and having a long service life because of collecting a light source part in one part by changing fiber length to easily cope with various dimensions, and changing fiber density to easily adjust luminance distribution, and to provide a backlight unit using the backlight light source, and a display device. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight light source comprises the light source part including point light sources; transmission type optical fiber connected to the light source part through an optical coupling part; and a light diffusion type optical fiber connected to the transmission type optical fiber.
