PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plunger sleeve which has simple constitution and can prevent reduction in molten metal temperature and can easily be manufactured inexpensively and easily be repaired when damaged, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The plunger sleeve 1 for a die casting machine is used for injecting and filling the molten metal into a cavity in a forming die, and a plunger tip is inserted into the plunger sleeve 1 and the molten metal is poured thereinto. The plunger sleeve 1 has at least a thermally sprayed layer 11a which constitutes the inner circumferential surface of the plunger sleeve 1 and is formed inside a layer 10 of heat insulating material and a metallic layer 12 constituting the outer circumferential surface of the plunger sleeve 1. The metallic layer 12 can be formed by cast-in around the thermally sprayed layer 11, or can be constituted by shrinkage fitting a metallic tube on the thermally sprayed layer 11.
