PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a household elevator based on essential safety design in which lifting action can be continued even at sudden power failure caused by generation of an earthquake and a person is not shut up in a car. SOLUTION: The essential safety type household elevator has a car 1 for loading persons and a baggage; a counter weight 2 connected to the car by a wire 6 laid on a block 5; and a constant load spring 3 torque-set by drive force by a motor, balancing force of the car for loading the baggage and the counter weight and setting unbalance load.
