PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper which simplifies a structure, can improve the productibility, and also can miniaturize by eliminating the needs for a seal member, as being suitably used for an opening and closing mechanism of the push-push method. SOLUTION: The rotary damper comprises a housing, an annular ring disposed in the housing, a shaft body 3 rotatably stored in the housing and partially projecting, and a sliding part 12 installed in the shaft body 3 and brought in a circumferential contact with a ring in the housing. In this case, the ring has a portion 11 to be brought in contact with the sliding part 12, which is made of elastomer or flexible rubber, and is sealed with gas. An urging element 14 to urge the shaft body 3 in one way rotational direction is disposed in the housing. A cam groove 10 is formed to revolve an engagement end 15a of a cam follower 15 formed in the sliding part 12 in one direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
