PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent transfer failure occurring when an image is transferred to a backside of a recording medium. SOLUTION: When images are manually formed on both sides of recording paper 30, a manual insertion tray 47 is provided as an exclusive paper supplying part for the backside when the image is formed on the backside of the recording medium 30. When a toner image is transferred to the recording paper 30 which is supplied from the manual insertion tray 47, transferring bias (initial setting transferring bias) for the backside which is set higher than when the toner image is transferred to the recording paper 30 supplied from the paper supplying tray 34 is applied to a secondary transfer roll 29. Thus, by only having the user set the recording paper 30 to the manual insertion tray 47 when the image is formed to the backside of the recording paper 30, high voltage is applied to the secondary transfer roll 29 without setting a backside mode.
