<p>Producing transgenic brassica plants with increased glucosinolate synthesis comprises causing overexpression of the gene coding for transcription factor MYB51. Independent claims are also included for: (1) recombinant vector comprising a promoter suitable for expression in brassica plant, cDNA coding for transcription factor MYB51 uder the control of the promoter, at least one restriction/recombination site and at least one reporter gene; (2) brassica plant produced as above having increased glucosinolate biosynthesis and/or an increased glucosinolate content, or progeny of such a plant, e.g. produced by vegetative means or by crossing or by protoplast production; (3) producing glucosinolates by cultivating transgenic brassica plants as above and extracting and purifying the synthesized glucosinolates. ACTIVITY : Cytostatic; Virucide; Immunosuppressive; Insect repellent. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.</p> |
