TRANSMITTING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PROCESSING DATA

A transmitting system and a data processing method are provided to be strong for an error when supplementary data is transmitted through a channel and be compatible with an existing receiver and receive the supplementary data without an error even in a channel with greater ghost and noise than those of an existing system. A transmitting system comprises the followings: a first parity adding unit which adds first parity data to first service data inputted with a first property; a multiplexing unit which multiplexes the first service data where second service data inputted with a second property and the first parity data are added; a second parity data adding unit which adds the second parity data to the service data multiplexed in the multiplexing unit; an encoding unit which performs convolution encoding of the service data where the second parity data is added; and a transmitting unit which transmits the convolution-encoded service data. A length of the first parity data and a length of the second parity data are different.
