摘要 Discrete solids and coating material are introduced into a coating chamber 4 comprising, connected together axially, a body portion 6, a tapered lower portion 8 and a gas supply line 12 of substantially smaller area than the body portion, gas being exhausted from the top of the chamber and the pressure of the gas supplied being sufficient to maintain the solids in circulation. As shown, air is supplied through line 12 to chamber 4 and the area of portions 6 is 4 to 100 times and preferably 6 to 15 times the area of supply line 12. Line 12 is connected to line 16 which is secured to a conduit 22 in a chamber 20 connected to the discharge side of blower 28. Steam coils 29 heat the air in conduit 24 when desired. Chamber 20 has a door 34 <PICT:0911608/III/1> and a drawer type recovery pan 36 for receiving the coated solids. Atomized coating is supplied through nozzle 44 connected through a jacketed line 46 to a pump 48. Pump 48 is supplied with coating material from a reservoir 52 which is heated if necessary. The gas is exhausted through line 62 connected to a reduced portion 64 discharging into a centrifugal separator. The discrete solids are supplied from a hopper 74 to line 62 through a pinch valve 78. Solid coating materials can be supplied from a hopper 86 to the Venturi portion 84 of a line 82 connected to the line 16. A downwardly directed atomizing nozzle 90 directs coating material at the solids in the upper portion of chamber 4.
