APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRAPPING SPAM CALLS AND SPAM MESSAGES

An apparatus for detecting a spam and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to take a legal sanction to a person who owns and uses ID information of a spam reply terminal by using the ID information of the spam reply terminal as evidence. An apparatus for detecting a spam comprises a message information collector(20), a storage unit(30) and a spam determining unit(40). The message information collector(20) cyclically accesses a database server which stores messages whose destinations are plural ID numbers of mobile communication terminals and collects message information including ID numbers of message receiving terminals and ID information of message reply terminals which is ID information of terminals set as reply terminals regarding the messages. The storage unit(30) stores voice call information including ID numbers of voice call receipt terminals and ID information of reply terminals which is ID information of terminals set as reply terminals. The storage unit(30) also stores the message information collected by the message information collector(20). The spam determining unit(40) determines that a voice call is a spam in case that a call arrival notification signal of the voice call is received for a reference period and it is not received any more after the reference period has passed.
