The method involves recovering lycopene with high degree of purity from trans-lycopenes obtained from natural sources. The solid-liquid extraction is carried out with a dissolvent, at low temperature and in absence of light. The lipid extracts are enriched in trans-lycopenes and crystals of trans-lycopenes with high degree of purity. The food additives are obtained and pharmaceutics or cosmetics are prepared using a natural raw material with high content of lycopene, such as tomato, water melon, papaya, algae and micro-algae, biomass of microbial origin and by-products of tomato processing.
