1,024,741. Moulding hollow articles. B. T. HESTEHAVE. June 19, 1962 [June 19, 1961], No. 22115/61. Heading B5A. In a method of blow moulding a hollow article of synthetic resin material having a neck portion, a parison having an integral neck is injection moulded in a parison mould B containing a mandrel 22 carrying a neck mould D, and the moulded parison, the mandrel 22, and the neck mould D are withdrawn axially and transferred to a blow mould (not shown), where the article is blown, the blowing then ceased, the mould D opened to release the neck, and the article removed by repeating the blowing. The mandrel 22 is shaped so that the parison is of such non-uniform thickness that when it is blown the resulting article is of substantially uniform wall thickness. In the blow moulding machine particularly described, a pair of blow moulds and associated mandrels are mounted on a turntable structure rotatable about a horizontal axis beneath a pair of injection cylinders and associated parison moulds.
|
